The Edmonton Chinese Lions Club is proud to host many community-based projects each year, working with and benefiting different community partners. Below are some examples of our current projects.

Literacy Night at Delton School

The club hosts a literacy night at Delton School in Edmonton to promote reading among the children attending the school. This family-oriented social event is fun for all ages, and always includes a special guest author who brings a book to life!

Dinner at The Mustard Seed

Members of the club come together to create and serve a meal to Edmontonians in need. From afternoon meal preparation to serving dinner with a smile, Edmonton Chinese Lions are proud to serve the hungry!

Tree Planting

Every summer, Lions, Leos, friends, and family join the City of Edmonton to help plant new trees in the city, continuing the legacy of Past President Lion Tam to plant one million trees worldwide. Hard work pays off later, with a fun BBQ for hungry tree planters, and a club legacy that will last!

Christmas Party at Ming Ai (Edmonton General Hospital)

The Ming Ai unit at the Edmonton General Hospital caters to patients from Edmonton’s Chinese community. Each year, the Edmonton Chinese Lions host a Christmas party for these residents, complete with gifts from (Chinese) Santa Claus!

Coffee Time at Operation Friendship Seniors Society

Operation Friendship Seniors Society is an organization in Edmonton dedicated to helping seniors in need. Edmonton Chinese Lions donate coffee mugs for the drop-in program, and occasionally stop in to have a chat with the visitors of the day.

CBC Turkey Drive

An institution in Edmonton, the CBC Turkey Drive has been fundraising for Edmonton’s Food Bank for 18 years. Edmonton Chinese Lions help staff the donation booth at CBC Edmonton headquarters downtown.
